Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How big is The Learning Carpet™?

A: The Learning Carpet is six feet square.

Q: What are the safety specifications for The Learning Carpet™?

A: The Learning Carpet™ meets….. for fire and the non-skid backing and rounded corners are specifically designed for safety of all students who use it to learn.

Q: How should I clean The Learning Carpet™?

A: Spills and spots happen in busy classrooms. These small spots can be cleaned from The Learning Carpet™ easily with a mild detergent. If needed, the Learning Carpet can also be steam cleaned.

Q: Space in my classroom is limited. What can I do?

A: If space is a concern, simply roll up The Learning Carpet™ to store it. Many classrooms with this issue devise a routine for quickly moving desks or other equipment when it is time to work and for putting the furniture back after learning time is finished.

Q: My school’s budget won’t support the purchase of The Learning Carpet™. What can I do to get one?

A: When budgets are tight, we teachers have to get creative. I wrote a grant to get products from The Learning Carpet™ in schools where I’ve worked. Please check state and federal agencies, foundations and businesses for options that would work best for your situation. Teachers have used DonorsChoose.org and teams of 4-5 teachers have used the Mathematics Education Trust from NCTM to obtain funds.

Q: I live in Canada and would like to order. What will it cost?

A: Our Canadian Customers are important to us. We charge for product and shipping only. Customs and taxes are assessed at Port of Entry. Please provide third-party brokerage information or UPS can serve as your broker.

Q: How can I order and pay for The Learning Carpet™?

A: We gladly accept Purchase Orders from schools throughout the United States and Canada. You may also order online using a credit card or call and we would be happy to take your order over the phone.

Q: How is my order shipped?

A: Most orders are shipped UPS, but some are sent in a more cost-efficient manner through USPS. We analyze each order to determine what works best to keep your shipping costs as low as possible.

Q: Are the cards that are used for The Learning Carpet™ laminated?

A: The cards are made of 100 lb. glossy paper or colored card stock. Adding lamination would greatly add to the price and the cost of shipping each set. Knowing most schools have access to cost-effective lamination, we recommend that the cards be laminated upon purchasing to extend the life of the product.

Q: Are their trainings where I can learn more about The Learning Carpet?

A: Yes, professional learning opportunities are available! Please check out our calendar to see if we are coming to your area. If not, perhaps your school or district would be willing to sponsor a workshop. Please contact us at info@thelearningcarpet.com and we can get started planning professional learning that fits the needs of your group.

Q: Do you offer trainings other than how to use The Learning Carpet™?

A: Yes, we offer a full range of professional learning opportunities to help build teacher understanding in early mathematics teaching and learning. Please click here for more information.

Q: How long does The Learning Carpet™ last?

A: The Learning Carpet™ is made to last. The durable nylon fiber and the no-skid rubber backing were specifically chosen to withstand the demands of the typical classroom. Personally, the carpet I had was 12 years old when I retired from teaching. Over the course of use, I made sure to keep it clean and taught the students how to respectfully use this learning tool. I instead of throwing it away, I gave it to a first-year teacher who was glad to keep his students learning using the tool. **Manufacturer warranty for normal wear and tear?
